ZeroWIN Project provides new impetus for iameco laptop PC.

MicroPro, the Dublin based Computer manufacturer and retailer, has agreed a further ground-breaking R&D partnership, this time to develop an iameco laptop PC. The laptop will have similar specification to the pioneering iameco PC developed under Project HEATSUN. The ZeroWIN Project has now been granted support under the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ZeroWIN is led by the Austrian Society for Systems Engineering and Automation (SAT), and bring together an impressive consortium of 29 expert partners, including universities, leading research agencies, recycling companies, developers and manufacturers.

ZeroWIN is linked to the StEP (Solving the E-Waste Problem) initiative, a United Nations University initiative that is pro-actively working to reduce the impact of electronic waste on the world environment. ZeroWIN intents to be an incubator for a variety of cutting-edge strategies and replicable models to reduce waste, save energy and cut carbon emissions in key industrial networks including computer design and manufacturing. The role of MicroPro will be to design, develop and prototype a zero-waste iameco laptop PC. José Ospina will provide MicroPro with development and project management support to MicroPro in the development of the ZeroWIN Project.
